The Dead Wife (Part 6, The End)

Night 18

Rick sat in bed, waiting. He had been confused all day, and his brain was running at a fevered pace.

He believed Min was coming home tonight. He knew it sounded impossible, yet that didn’t change that he believed she would. Maybe the coroner or the doctors had made a mistake. He didn’t know how or why, but he felt he was going to see her soon.

Fear had been seeping into his brain since he saw the key that morning. The emotion was a primal impulse that he remembered from when he was young.

His brain kept telling him, “Something’s not right. Run for it!” But he pushed it aside.

Rick wondered briefly if he was crazy. “It’s better to be crazy than heartbroken,” he thought.

A question kept surfacing in his churning brain: Should he be afraid of this person? He knew this situation wasn’t normal. He thought she had died. Maybe she did. But he realized that he still loved her, and he wasn’t ready to let her go. It didn’t matter why she was coming back.

Rick sat on his bed and waited for his dead wife to come home.

  1. What did you think about the story?

Did you like the way I released the story in pieces? Or was it slightly annoying?

  3. i think the the release of the story in pieces was a nice touch, but i wish it were in less than 6, maybe just 3 or even 2 because of the short length of the story. some really short parts of the story felt like…what? it’s over already? it kinda broke the flow of the story because i had forgotten what happened in the early parts and i had to go back to read again. and of course, when i came to part 5 i was laughing and thought to myself ‘of course i should have seen this coming’, it’s you. 🙂 as you know i’m not very educated in this area and i don’t really take them very seriously (but i’m not saying that i’m not going to hear you explain more on that subject), so maybe that just kinda threw me off the story. that being said, i love your style of writing – very clean and concise. 🙂 i liked your choice of theme too. now keep on posting!
